UC Davis Football Celebrates Community Day and Unites Local Support

DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis football team is gearing up for an exciting home opener against Southern Utah on September 16 at 7 p.m., and the highlight of the event is the much-anticipated Community Day. This special occasion will shine a spotlight on the remarkable support for UC Davis Athletics from the communities of Davis, Woodland, Winters, West Sacramento, Dixon, and Vacaville.

"We believe that our connection with Davis and our surrounding communities is at the heart of our success," said Rocko DeLuca, Director of Athletics. "Community Day is a chance to celebrate the bond between the Aggies and the incredible people who make our region thrive."

As the new school year commences, the 2022-2023 Yolo County Teachers of the Year from neighboring schools have been invited, along with their families, to receive well-deserved recognition during the game. Additionally, students from grades K-8 can enjoy complimentary admission, while faculty and staff from nearby schools can take advantage of exclusive ticket discounts.

Recognizing the invaluable contributions of Yolo County city and government employees, a reduced-rate ticket offer has been extended as a token of appreciation for their dedication to maintaining our region's vibrancy.

The festivities don't stop there; the first home game of the season also marks a special reunion for all former UC Davis football players, creating a unique opportunity to reminisce and reconnect.

To seize these exclusive offers and join in the celebration, please contact the Aggie Ticket Office at (530) 752-2471 or via email at aggietickets@ucdavis.edu.

Pre-game excitement will kick off at Tailgate Town, a free event on Biggs Field, just steps away from UC Davis Health Stadium. This gathering spot will feature lawn games, inflatables for Junior Aggies, and delectable Hawaiian BBQ, with beverages provided by Pull Up Plate. Groups also have the option to purchase a pre-set tailgate space complete with tents and chairs.

Halftime will bring back the beloved tradition of the kids' run. All Junior Aggies and their families are invited onto the field to high-five the team as they head into the locker room, then storm across the field in anticipation of the UC Davis Marching Band's performance.

A UC Davis football game offers an array of attractions, from meeting the live mascot Maggie the Aggie and her trusty steed on the concourse to savoring a variety of local food options, live music, and top-25 football action. Be sure to circle Community Day, September 16th, on your calendar, as it promises to be a memorable event that unites our community and celebrates our shared Aggie spirit.

This story is an example of UC Davis Athletics' commitment to the Ignite Strategic Plan of communicating the value of athletics to fans, students, staff, faculty and donors to maximize support.
