Davis, Calif. — UC Davis women's soccer played to its first draw of the 2023 season in a 0-0 match at CSUN on Thursday night (Sept. 21).

The Aggies leave the Valley, securing their first point of Big West play. The draw extends the Aggies' recent run of success against CSUN, with the Matadors not having beaten UC Davis since 2014.

On a night where the Aggies dominated the run of play, UC Davis was unable to break through on the scoresheet. The Aggies dictated the pace of play, recording 20 shots and attempting nine corners, in comparison to CSUN's 12 shots and five corners.

Six Aggies challenged the CSUN keeper with shots on goal tonight, with Lindsey Porter being the lone Aggie to record multiple attempts on target. After scoring her first goal of 2023 against Eastern Washington last time out, Porter has continued to expand her presence on the attack and is pressuring opposing goalkeepers with her left-footed finishing.

Defensively for UC Davis, the Aggies were able to record their fourth shutout of the season. Back-to-back shutouts; the backline has been in sync as of late, moving in complete unison while Caeley Goldstein has been denying any penetrating efforts from opposing strikers. Goldstein finished the night with seven saves and continues to display why she is ranked first in goals against average among qualified Big West goalkeepers.

UC Davis will get a chance to secure more points this weekend at Cal State Bakersfield as the Aggies are set to square off against the Roadrunners on Sunday, September 24 at 1 p.m. PT. The Aggies return home Thursday, September 28 to kick off a three-game Big West home stand.
