HONOLULU – The UC Davis softball team (29-20, 15-12) capped off its season with a doubleheader sweep over Hawai'i on Friday evening. The Aggies won a rain delayed game one by the score of 6-1 and then took down the Rainbow Wahine in the nightcap, 5-2, to secure the series.
GAME 1 | UC Davis 6, Hawai'i 1
The Aggies would have a strong game at the plate as
Anna Dethlefson (2-for-4) and
Bella Pahulu (1-for-3) each had a home run.
Sommer Kisling led the Aggies offensively going 2-3 with an RBI.
In the circle,
Taylor Fitzgerald pitched five innings and had three strikeouts.
Caroline Grimes came in relief and pitched two innings and struck out four while allowing a lone run.
The Aggies would get on the scoreboard in the top of the first innings with two runs. The Aggies' first run came on a throwing error that scored Dethlefson. The second run came on a
Libbie McMahan ground out that scored
Leah Polson.
The Aggies would add to their lead with one run in the top of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. In the top of the fourth, Kisling delivered some two out magic as she singled to left field and scored
Gia Felice. In the top of the fifth,
Alyssa Ito scored on a McMahan ground out and in the top of the sixth, Dethlefson contributed some two out magic of her own as hit a solo home run to left field.
The Rainbow Wahine would get a run back in the bottom of the sixth inning on a fielder's choice that plated one run.
The Aggies would tack on their final run of the game in the top of the seventh inning as Pahulu delivered a solo home run to left field that proved to be the game-winner.
GAME 2 | UC Davis 5, Hawai'i 2
The UC Davis Aggies took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 5-2 victory against the Rainbow Wahine in the backend of the doubleheader on Friday.

Reineman (4-5) got the win for the Ags The right-hander went three innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits, allowing one walk and striking out two. Junior
Kenedi Brown closed the door, going four shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking one and striking out four.
In her final game in an Aggie uniform senior
Delaney Diaz went 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and an RBI. Anna
Dethlefson capped off her historic season by batting 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Bella
Pahulu tallied one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
The Aggies put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. UC Davis scored twice in the frame, including the big hit on solo shot from Diaz.
After the Rainbow Wahine rallied to tie the ballgame at two, the Aggies came back to retake the lead in the fourth inning. UC Davis plated two runs off of Hawai'i pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double off the bat of
Dethlefson.
Tatum Wentworth recorded a clutch pinch-hit RBI to expand the lead to 4-2.
UC Davis held Hawai'i without a run before building their lead to 5-2 in the sixth inning when Dethlefson scored on an error. Brown shut the door to secure the Aggie victory.
