Aggies Get Back Into Win Column with Gritty Road Win

Box Score MORAGA, Calif. — UC Davis snapped a three match skid with a Thursday afternoon victory over Saint Mary's College in Moraga.

The Aggies (7-10, 2-4 Big West) entered singles play with yet another 1-0 lead after Michelle Zell and Carly Schwartzberg gutted out their set 7-5 to clinch the doubles point. Lauren Ko and Olive Maunupau won Davis' other doubles set, 6-1.

The first four singles matches were decided in straight sets, with Olive Maunupau and Kristina Evloeva coming out on top for the Aggies, and Iman Khan and Lene Mari Hovda earning two points for the Gaels.

Yana Gurevich finalized the contest in dominant fashion after her Saint Mary's opponent won the opening set in a 7-5 tiebreaker. Gurevich bounced back to win the next two sets 6-3 and 6-0, rendering the outcome of Michelle Zell's third set tiebreaker irrelevant.

The Aggies welcome Cal Poly (8-7, 3-2 Big West) to the Marya Welch Tennis Center for a Saturday morning conference match. First serve is scheduled for 10 a.m.
