HONOLULU, HAWAI'I– For the first day of the Big West Women's Beach Volleyball Championship, the UC Davis Aggies went 2-1 in playoff matches and earned their spot to contend in day-two. On Friday, the Ags captured victories against CSUN and CSU Bakersfield. To cement themselves into Saturday's fight for the championship.

The Ags won their first match of the Big West Championship, against the CSUN Matadors. In this playoff match-up, competition was high as each team captured two-sets a piece. With it all on the line in the fifth flight. The duo of Morgan Coolbaugh and Sam Lazenby fought hard to win the pivotal tie-breaker for the Aggies. The win allowed the Ags to advance in the tournament and play again at 4 p.m.

At 4 p.m. UC Davis competed in its second match of the Big West Championship against Long Beach State. It was a tough match as the Aggies fell to the Beach in every flight. However, being the Ags only loss, UC Davis had a chance at redemption at 6:30 p.m. in a bout with CSU Bakersfield.

At 6:30 p.m UC Davis took on CSU Bakersfield to avoid being eliminated from the Big West Championship tournament. The Ags stampede past the Roadrunners, to eliminate them in a swift four-set victory and advance to day-two of play.
