Box Score DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis women's tennis team (8-11, 3-5 Big West) had no problems dealing with UC Riverside (2-12, 0-7 Big West), pocketing a 6-1 win on Wednesday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
For the seventh straight match, UC Davis won the opening point in doubles competition with two 6-0 wins. Lauren Ko and Olive Maunupau registered the first win and the duo of Michelle Zell and Carly Schwartzberg finished it out on court three. Yana Gurevich and Arianna Stavropoulos were leading 5-1 when the doubles point was settled. 

The Aggies didn't ease up in singles play, cranking out three straight set wins to quickly clinch the match at 4-0. Ko won 6-1, 6-3, Stavropoulos finished her opponent 6-2, 6-4 and Schwartzberg won her second set tiebreaker 7-3. 

The Highlanders got on the board with a win on court three, but the Aggies added two more courtesy of Maunupau and Zell come-from-behind three set victories.

The win gives the Aggies, currently the eighth seed in the Big West, a tie in the win column with sixth seed Long Beach State.

UP NEXT
UC Davis crosses to the Causeway to take on Sacramento State on Friday, April 21 for a 1:30 p.m. match, then finishes out the regular season at home the following day against Long Beach State at 9:30 a.m.
