Elijah Pepper and
Tova Sabel have been named UC Davis Athletics male and female Student-Athletes of the Week following their impressive performances on the final week of the regular season.
Elijah Pepper continued his excellent run of form with two incredible scoring hauls last week. The Selah, Wash. native enjoyed his seventh game with 30+ points in Thursday's matchup with UC Santa Barbara before dropping a game-high 28 points in the Aggies' thrilling double-overtime victory over Long Beach State in the season finale.
Pepper finished the regular season as the leading scorer in the Big West and is currently ranked fifth nationally with 22.5 points-per-game.
Tova Sabel was named Big West Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading UC Davis to two impressive wins over UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State. She averaged 18.5 points-per-game over the two contests and did it with extreme efficiency, shooting 54.2% from the field and 57.1% (8-for-14) from three-point range in her excellent shooting display.
The Swedish guard scored 12 points while hitting five of her six attempts from the floor in the Aggies' win over the Gauchos before exploding for a game-high 25 points in the victory over Long Beach State. She dropped 12 fourth-quarter points against The Beach to propel her team to the win while snapping the league-leaders' 15-game win streak.
