Green's 8-strikeout showing powers UC Davis past Seattle U 11-1

Bellevue, Wash. — Sophomore Bryan Green was mowing people down on Saturday, striking out eight Seattle U hitters over six innings of work to help power the UC Davis Aggies over the Redhawks 11-1.

In addition to his eight strikeouts, Green (3-0) tossed six innings, giving up one run on three hits and walking none for UC Davis (4-4). Junior Danny Carrion also made an impact on the mound for the Aggies, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing two hits, with no walks and two strikeouts. The flamethrower from Winters, Carrion is as electric as they come when he is on.

Freshman Joey Wright led the way offensively for the Aggies, going 4-for-6 in the ballgame with a home run and two RBI. Junior Jack Gallagher put together a standout effort as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBI's. Senior James Williams III also helped out, going 1-for-4 for UC Davis with a double and four RBI. After being quieted just a day ago by the Redhawks, led by Wright who responded to his adversity from a day ago, the Aggies were able to return the favor to Seattle U and flip the score by taking an 11-1 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Aggies got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. UC Davis got an RBI single from sophomore Nick Leehey, scoring Wright from second base.

The Aggies then held the Redhawks scoreless before expanding their lead in the third inning. Williams' bases-clearing double was the offense in a three-run inning for UC Davis, which brought the score to 4-0 in favor of the Aggies.

UC Davis held Seattle U without a run before building their lead to 6-0 in the fifth inning. The Aggies added two runs when a single from sophomore Mark Wolbert brought home Wright and junior Alex Gouveia.

The Redhawks fought back, closing the gap to 6-1 until UC Davis added some insurance in the eighth. The Aggies left the yard two times in the inning on the way to scoring five runs, bringing the score to 11-1 in favor of UC Davis. The score remained 11-1 for the rest of the game, as the Aggies coasted to the win.
