LONG BEACH, Calif. – UC Davis junior pitcher Kenedi Brown tossed her second-career no-hitter, leading the Aggies to a 4-0 victory over Louisiana Monroe at the Wilson Invitational on Friday. After the victory, the Aggie improve to 6-1 on the season.
Brown improved to 4-1 on the season. The right-hander struck out six and walked one en route to the tournament-opening victory. The no-hitter is the second of her collegiate career as she blanked Utah State on March 11 of last season.
Junior Sarah Nakahara led the way offensively for the Aggies, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double, a walk and an RBI. Sophomore Grace Kilday put together her best performance of the season, going 3-for-3 with a double. Junior Anna Dethlefson also chipped in, going 2-for-3 for with two RBI.
The Aggies took the lead for good in the second, scoring for the first time in the inning. UC Davis put together a three-run frame, culminating in a run-scoring single from Dethlefson.
The Aggies also added a run in the sixth inning to complete their scoring in the ballgame after another Dethlefson RBI.
UC Davis will complete tournament play with two games tomorrow. The Aggies will face the Warhawks at 10 a.m. and play Pac-12 foe Cal at 12:30 p.m.
