DAVIS, Calif. – The accolades continue to roll in for standout running back
Lan Larison as he is named a First Team All-American by FCS Football Central, part of the Sports Illustrated Media Group. Larison also received All-America Third Team recognition from the Associated Press and Stats Perform. In addition, Larison was tabbed an All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
"From the minute we recruited Lan years ago you could tell instantly how special he was," said head Coach Tim Plough. "The athletic attributes are obvious to everyone. It was his toughness, his work ethic, and his leadership that set him apart. He's got a wonderful family, especially his parents Bob & Jan, that have given him a tremendous foundation. He's a "Davis Guy" and he's got Shredville running thru his UCDNA. We're thrilled to have him back next season. Congrats to him on this most deserving award and I'm sure there's more to come."
The FCS Football Central All-American Team recognizes the best players from across FCS football during the 2023 season. He is the first Aggie to receive All-America recognition since punter Daniel Whelan garnered honors in 2020, and the first offensive player since Keelan Doss in 2018.
Despite missing three games due to injury, Larison was named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year as the conference's leading rusher with 1,101 yards and 13 touchdowns. His 137.6 rushing yards per game was the best mark in the country.
The Caldwell, Idaho native ran for over 100 yards in six of his seven games, including an incredible 264-yard, three-touchdown performance in the team's win over Idaho State on Nov. 11. This was the third-best rushing game in UC Davis football history. Larison was also the first Aggie since 2002 to post two 200-yard rushing games in the same season.
