Verona, Wisc. — The UC Davis Aggies moved up from 11th to 9th place at the Badger Invitational after a strong round two performance Monday.
The Aggies combined to shoot 8-over-par on the day as a team, and once again were led by
Skyler May. Through two days, May has carded a 145 after shooting a 73 (+1) during round one and a 72 (E) today. This puts her at T-14 among all competitors. Highlight of her day included shooting two straight birdies on holes one and two to help secure her even-par round.
Elle Rastvortseva recorded a 73 (+1) round today and now firmly sits at 149 through two days, tied with teammate
Abby Leighton who shot a 76 (+4) today. Rastvortseva and Leighton are T-34 among all competitors.
Naomi Danner and
Lauren Calderon are T-55 on the leaderboard after Danner shot a 75 (+3) while Calderon carded a 76 (+4).
The story for the Aggies during round two was the adjustments made on the front-nine holes. Starting on the back-nine during their tee-off, the Aggies recorded four birdies combined as a team through their first nine holes of play. It was a whole different story for the Aggies during the second half of golf today where they ended up shooting 10 birdies as a team with Danner notably shooting three straight on holes one through three.
Every Aggie finished below-par or even on holes one through nine and was a big reason UC Davis found themselves jumping two spots on the team leaderboards.
The Ags only trail 8th place Rutgers by three strokes while Notre Dame firmly holds their lead atop the standings at 5-under-par.
The third and final day of the Badger Invitational will take place Tuesday morning (Sept. 20) with a Shotgun Start at 9 AM CT.
