Davis, Calif. - Marcus Garcia is off to a running start in his UC Davis career, scoring the Aggies' first goal of the season last week and on Monday was named the Big West Conference Freshman of the Week.

Garcia had the equalizing goal in UC Davis' season opener at No. 5 Oregon State on Aug. 25. Both of his shots in that game came on goal in 53 minutes of action against the Beavers.

A redshirt freshman transfer from Maryland, Garcia was the Gatorade New Mexico Boys Soccer Player of the Year at St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque New Mexico in 2021.

Garcia and the Aggies return to action on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Stanford and again on Sunday, Sept. 4 at Saint Mary's. UC Davis' home opener will come on Sept. 8 against San Diego at 2 p.m.
