DAVIS, Calif. – Former UC Davis punter Colby Wadman enjoyed a special Fourth of July holiday weekend as he helped the Birmingham Stallions claim the inaugural championship of the rebooted USFL on Sunday evening. The Stallions downed the Philadelphia Stars, 33-30, and finished the season with a league-best 11-1 record.
Wadman appeared in every game for Birmingham, punting 46 times for 2,073 yards with a 45.1-yard punting average over the 10-game regular season. His 17 punts inside the 20 was second in the league. In the championship game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, Wadman punted three times that included one kick inside the 20.

The Bangor, Maine native has spent time with the Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers. Wadman made his NFL debut with the Broncos in Week 5 of the 2018 season, finishing the year with 65 punts for 2,905 yards with a 44.7 yards-per-punt average. He played in all 16 games in 2019 for Denver, punting 78 times for 3,464 yards, sporting a 44.4 average. Wadman has appeared in 28 career NFL regular season games.
At UC Davis, Wadman appeared in 45 career games, punting 244 times for a 41.0 average. The Thousand Oaks High School product was named All-Big Sky Conference Honorable Mention in 2013, 2014 and 2016. He ranked No. 8 in the nation his senior season with a 43.2 yards per punt average.
