DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis Health Stadium, the home of Aggie football and lacrosse, is in the midst of installation of a new state-of-the-art playing surface. Tarkett Sports - the leaders in sports surfacing – began the project this week.
Tarkett Sports, who has over 80,000 installations worldwide, will give Aggie fans a new look for the 2022 season and beyond.
"As we continue to place in the top-25 nationally in FCS football and welcome our conference opponents in the Pac-12 to UC Davis Health Stadium in women's lacrosse, it is the perfect time to upgrade our playing surface with a fresh look that aligns with our branding," UC Davis Director of Athletics,
Rocko DeLuca said. "We are pleased to partner with campus and share this first-class facility daily with our club programs and the UC Davis Marching Band."
The turf, FieldTurf Vertex Core-2" True Blend,' is a durable two-fiber product designed for excellent long-term performance. Together with the patented FieldTurf '3 Layer' infill mix of sand, sand/rubber and rubber, the Super Elite field has a natural look with excellent ball performance and a system that is backed by long-term independent safety data.
FieldTurf has been installed and trusted by 11 franchises in the National Football League and showcased on over 1,500 college campuses.
Also included were field striping for multiple sports and logos that showcase the Aggie brand. In addition to athletics, the new surface will accommodate campus general events such as the Welcome Back Rally at student orientation, sport camps and clinics, the Special Olympics Play Day and many more.
