DAVIS, Calif. – For the second straight day, Cal State Bakersfield had no answer for UC Davis hurler
Kenedi Brown as the righthander surrendered just one hit in the 2-0 shutout victory. The win hands the Aggies the series sweep and improves their record to 17-16 overall and 5-4 in Big West play.
Brown allowed just two hits on the weekend and continued to miss CSUB bats as the sophomore struck out 12 in the complete game effort. In the two games pitched, Brown fanned 29 in 14 innings.
The two teams were locked in a pitcher's duel as the Aggies broke through in the fifth inning with a pair of runs.
Reese Mattley started the rally for UC Davis by reaching on an error, and then
Delaney Diaz lined a single down the line in left to set the table for
Sarah Nakahara, who drove in Mattley on a single to right.
Claudia Kim then capped off the scoring with a single through the left side to give Brown all the support she would need.
UC Davis will continue Big West play as the Aggies head south to face UC Riverside in a three-game set that will begin on Friday, April 8.
