DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis gymnastics duo of Kyla Kessler and Keanna Abraham were recognized by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation for their stellar performances this past weekend. Kessler was named the MPSF Gymnast of the Week, while Abraham nabbed MPSF Specialist of the Week accolades.

The Aggies posted their third-straight score of 196 or above, downing Causeway rival Sacramento State, 196.225-195.400 last Saturday.

Kessler and Abraham led UC Davis to some record-breaking performances. The senior bettered her personal best all-around score with a 39.425 to win the meet. That score improved the third-best mark in program history.

Kessler equaled the program record in the floor exercise with a career-high of 9.95 to lead an Aggie sweep in the event. The 49.425 team score on the floor was the second-best in team history. The senior finished third on the bars with a 9.825.

Abraham garners MPSF honors for the first time on her young career. The UC Davis freshman had the finest meet of her young collegiate career as she equaled the scored record on the beam with a 9.925. She then posted a 9.925 to follow Kessler on the floor and lead the Aggies to the second-best event score in school history with a 49.425. The newcomer started her meet by finishing third on the vault with a 9.875.

UC Davis will head south to UCLA for a dual on Saturday, March 12. The meet will begin at 2 p.m. and be shown on Pac-12 Network.
