SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The UC Davis gymnastics team continues to make history this season, scoring its third-straight 196, downing Causeway rival Sacramento State for the fourth time, 196.225-195.400, Saturday afternoon at the Hornets Nest.
Senior
Kyla Kessler's magical senior season wrote a new chapter as the Fremont, Calif., native showcased a career-best 39.425 in the all-around. That score is third all-time in the UC Davis record books.
Kessler equaled the program record in the floor exercise with a career-high of 9.95 to lead an Aggie sweep in the event. Freshman
Keanna Abraham also shined on the floor with a personal best of 9.925. Classmate
Megan Ray was third with a 9.875. The 49.425 score in the event is tied for second all-time in school history.
Abraham also hit a 9.875 on the vault to tie for the event win and lead the team to a score of 49.225. Fellow newcomer
Emily Pires also landed a 9.875 while Kessler followed with a 9.85.
Junior
Thea Michovsky tied for the event win on the bars with a 9.85. Kessler was third with a 9.825.
Abraham continued the finest meet of her young collegiate career by sharing the beam victory with junior
Rachel Schuelke-Lombardi with school-record tying scores of 9.925. Ray followed in third with a 9.90.
The Aggies will conclude their regular season at UCLA on Saturday, March 12. The two teams will square off at Pauley Pavilion at 2 p.m.
