DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis softball team fell to Pac-12 foe Stanford, 11-1, Tuesday afternoon at La Rue Field. After the day, the Aggies move to 5-8 on the season while the Cardinal improve to 15-2.
UC Davis battled one of the hottest pitchers and pitching staffs in softball as Alana Vawter (7-2) allowed one run on two hits in five innings. The Stanford right-hander is coming off a perfect game in her last outing as the Cardinal had allowed just two hits over their last four games.
The Aggies stuck with the Cardinal after Stanford plated two runs in the first and scored one in each the second and third innings. UC Davis plated its lone run of the game in the bottom of the third when sophomore

Bella Pahulu collected the hits for the Aggies. Sophomore Kendi Brown (3-4) was tagged with the loss after allowing three runs on two hits while striking out two in two innings.

Taylor Fitzgerald hung tough with Stanford and kept the Aggies in the game until eight runs – only three earned put the game away. Fitzgerald struck out three in three innings of relief.
UC Davis will welcome Dixie State and Sacramento State on Saturday for the Capital Classic. Action will begin at 9 a.m. at La Rue Field.
