Aggies Down Keelhaulers 90-67 in home opener

Davis, Calif. — In Ty Johnson's first game in front of the Aggie faithful, the sophomore guard dropped 20 points en route to an Aggie 90-67 victory over the Keelhaulers of Cal Maritime on Wednesday evening at the University Credit Union Center. This is the second consecutive season the Aggies have started out the year 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Ty Johnson picked up 20 points on the night while also adding four steals, a block, and a perfect 2-2 showing from beyond the arc.
  • Kane Milling proved yet again his versatility after scoring 13 on the night on a 6-11 effort from the field.
  • Christian Anigwe quietly chipped in with 13 points, while also recording two blocks. He was a big reason for UC Davis' advantage in points in the paint on the night where Davis outscored Maritime, 50-22.
  • Jac Mani also took action in his first game in front of a Davis home crowd and reached double figures as he posted an 11 point, four rebound stat line, and even showed off his range by banking in a three from the top of the key.
  • Leo DeBruhl was the lead distributor on the night after racking up six assists, while teammate Robby Beasley III had five in a night that saw the Ags record 17 total assists.
  • The Aggies completely dominated the glass after outrebounding the Keelhaulers, 50-28.
  • UC Davis had 10 members find the scoring column.
  • UC Davis kept up its torrid pace with 16 fast break points compared to the Keelhaulers 5 and will look to keep pushing the pace behind Ty Johnson all season.

UP NEXT

  • The Aggies will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 12 when UC Davis visits the Loyola Marymount Lions in a game scheduled for tip-off at 7 p.m. PT on the WCC Network. UC Davis is 2-1 all-time against LMU after winning their last contest against the Lions by a score of 67-65 back in 2019.
