Aggies Defend Home Court; MBB Downs Arkansas State, 75-60

Davis, Calif. — A rowdy University Credit Union Center got behind the Aggies as UC Davis took down the visiting Arkansas State Red Wolves by a score of 75-60. Leading the charge for UC Davis was Robby Beasley III with a team-high 15 points. The Aggies move to 3-1 on the year and a match with Sacramento State at the Golden 1 Center looms.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Robby Beasley III had a team-high 15 points for UC Davis after going 6-10 from the field on 3-5 from three-point range. Beasley III drew the start tonight and finished with three boards to go along with his 15 in 29 minutes played.
  • Elijah Pepper recorded a double-double after pulling down a team high 11 rebounds and adding 12 points with all of them coming from beyond the arc. Pepper finished the night shooting 4-11 from the field and 4-8 from three, while also collecting three assists.
  • Four Aggies reached double figures on the night as the big-man Christian Anigwe finished with 10 points, three rebounds and two blocks. Ty Johnson was the other Aggie to score double digits after a 4-6 showing from the field that ended with 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists on a night where he only played 18 minutes, dealing with foul trouble for most of the game.
  • Leo DeBruhl stepped up for Les and co. in a big way by pouring in nine points, dishing out a game-high six assists, and eating up major minutes at the guard position. DeBruhl also had a team-high four free-throw makes and had a huge and-1 bucket during the second half to extend the Aggies lead.
  • Kane Milling logged the second most minutes tonight among teammates and tied with Leo DeBruhl for a game-high six assists while also knocking down two triples, and snagging four rebounds.
  • UC Davis as a team shot an efficient 50% from the three-point line and finished just a hair under 50% from the field.
  • UC Davis held Arkansas State to just 35% shooting from the field and 27.8% from three.
  • UC Davis enjoyed a big second half, mostly due to the ball movement that led to seven Aggie three pointers as UC Davis shot 63.6% from three in the second half alone.
  • All nine Aggies that played tonight finished with a positive box +/-, showing off the depth and versatility throughout the rotation.
  • Caleb Fields led Arkansas State with 25 points on 8-15 shooting.
