CORVALLIS, Ore. – The UC Davis gymnastics team was preparing for two meets in Alaska. Instead, the Aggies picked up a tri-meet against Pac-12 foes UCLA and Oregon State at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis. Despite the challenges of the week and the first road contest of the season, UC Davis posted a season-high score of 194.700.
The Aggies boasted a score of 49.000 on the vault that outdistanced UCLA and was their best mark since a 49.100 against New Hampshire in 2019. Freshman
Keanna Abraham led UC Davis with a 9.875 to finish tied for second in the event. Reigning MPSF Gymnast of the Week,
Kyla Kessler placed tied for fifth with a score of 9.850.
UC Davis also made some noise on the beam as sophomore
Emma Otsu placed third in the event with a 9.900. Kessler bettered her all-around score from last week, nearly putting together a career-high with a 39.225.
The Aggies will continue their road swing as they head to Colorado Springs for a tri-meet against Alaska-Anchorage and host Air Force on Sunday, Jan. 30.Â
