Rucki wraps-up career night in net at Boise State

UC Davis closes out Idaho trip at Idaho State on Sunday

BOISE, Idaho — UC Davis senior goalkeeper Nicki Rucki capped off a busy evening in Boise with a career-high eight saves, but host Boise State put one past the Aggie netminder in the 51st minute for the only score of the match, lifting the Broncos to a 1-0 victory on Thursday at the Boas Soccer Complex.

Rucki's eight stops surpassed her previous career high of seven set against the Matadors on Oct. 27, 2019, as the Martinez, Calif., native turned away five shots in the opening 45 minutes and three more in the second half.

However, it was the foot Keile Hansen that gave Boise State the only score it would need at the 50:34 mark, netting her second goal of the year for the 1-0 lead.

The Aggies had an opportunity to knot the score in the 64th minute, but Emma Hasco's attempt was cleared off the line by a Bronco defender, and freshman Sammie Ruelas had two attempts in the final five minutes, the first of which was denied by Boise State goalkeeper Sydney Smith to preserve the shutout.

The Broncos out-shot UC Davis by a 25-8 count, but put only 10 of those attempts on frame, and had six of the eight corner kicks on the night. Ruelas and Hasco finished with a pair of shots apiece.

A match in Pocatello, Idaho, closes out the Aggies' trip to the "Gem State" as UC Davis takes on Idaho State on Sunday (Sept. 5) at 10 a.m. PT.
