Risa Yamada scored the equalizer goal in the 75th minute then assisted
Jayde Holley for the go-ahead less than eight minutes later, leading UC Davis to a 2-1 win over Saint Mary's in women's collegiate soccer action at Saint Mary's Stadium.
The Aggies improve to 5-3 overall. The Gaels suffer their first loss of the year, slipping to 5-1-2.
UC Davis outshot SMC by a 15-12 edge, firing 10 shots -- including seven on frame -- in the second half. The Gaels first crafted the initial 1-0 lead with a Suzuna Shibukawa goal in the 22nd minute, then managed a shot on goal and a corner kick for the remainder of the half. However, Aggie goalkeeper

Yamada's goal came off a rebound from a
Janessa Staab shot in the 75th minute, erasing the deficit. The Aggies halted a pair of SMC corner kicks in the 81st and 82nd, before Yamada delivered to Holley in the 83rd.
Wednesday's win ended non-league play for the Aggies, who return to action at CSU Bakersfield for their Big West Conference opener on Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m.
