SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Second baseman
Sommer Kisling hit 3-for-4 and center fielder
Marissa Jauregui added two more hits, but the heart of the UC Davis order went hitless in a 7-0 shutout loss at San Diego State Sunday.
The Aggies fall to 0-7 for the season.
Kisling had singles in each of the first, third and seventh frames. Freshman designated player
Jessica Day recorded her first collegiate hit in the fourth inning to load the bases but SDSU reliever Karina Faasisila coaxed a ground out to end the threat. Overall, UC Davis left nine total runners stranded.
The Aztecs scored four runs in the second, in part due to three Aggie errors, then Alexa Schultz' solo homer in the third extended the margin to 5-0. Schultz then teamed with catcher Sara Lillie on back-to-back triples as part of a two-run fifth.
UC Davis returns home for a midweek doubleheader against Saint Mary's on Wednesday. Game times are 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
