Aggies roll over Hornets in Golden 1 Center clash

Three UC Davis players finish in double figures as the Aggies shoot 50 percent on the night

SACRAMENTO -- Senior Sage Stobbart scored a team-high 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked three shots on the night, while teammates Kayla Konrad and Cierra Hall pitched in with 12 points apiece, as UC Davis rolled to a 75-46 victory over rival Sacramento State on Thursday night at the Golden 1 Center in Downtown Sacramento.

The Aggies, who finished with 25 assists on 28 made baskets for the night, improved to 2-2 overall on the year, winning for the fifth consecutive time in the series and taking the first-ever meeting between the two programs played at the home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings.

The Hornets fell to 2-3 overall with the loss, led by 18 points from Lianna Tillman and a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double by Summer Menke.

Stobbart finished 6-of-11 from the floor in 26 minutes to help led the way for UC Davis, which also drained 48 percent from the arc and hit 50 percent of its shots overall on the night. Four of those triples came off the hot hand of Konrad, who finished 4-of-5 from the field for the contest, adding three rebounds and four assists.

Hall shared team honors with Stobbart with eight rebounds of her own, dishing out five assists as well. All told, 11 of the 12 players who hit the floor, finished with at least two points -- including the first collegiate points for both Megan Jones and Marley Langi's first career three-pointers.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the floor, the Aggies' defense was stifling, limiting Sacramento State to just 28 percent shooting from the field overall and 5-of-23 from beyond the arc.

UC Davis returns to the court on Friday afternoon (Nov. 26) at 12:30 p.m., hosting Weber State at the University Credit Union Center.

How It Happened

The Aggies then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 16-5 advantage. UC Davis relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down four shots to account for 12 of its 16 points.

UC Davis built that first quarter lead to 26-12 before going on a 5-0 run starting at the 2:58 mark in the second period to increase its lead to 31-12. The Hornets cut into that lead, but the Aggies still enjoyed a 35-19 advantage heading into halftime. UC Davis dominated in the paint, scoring 10 of its 19 points close to the basket.

Following intermission, UC Davis continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 45-25 before going on a 7-0 run, punctuated by a three from Makaila Sanders, to expand its lead further to 52-25 with 2:45 to go in the third.
