Hello UC Davis Athletics Community,
 
The Big West announced today that fall sports competition will be delayed until at least January of 2021 due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.  
 
In its announcement, the Big West explained that basketball seasons might still begin in mid-November if public health circumstances permit. A final decision on basketball schedules will be made in the next few months.
 
This Big West announcement does not directly apply to our teams, such as football, who participate in other conferences. However, over the next few days, we will work with officials from our other leagues to determine whether similar postponements will be announced. 
 
While this delay in athletics competition is disappointing, UC Davis Athletics fully supports this decision and believes it is a necessary step in continuing to ensure the health and safety of our student-athletes and community. We will communicate additional information about how fall sports will be rescheduled as details are finalized.
