UC Davis bats silenced by the Gaels

Moraga, Calif. - Three Saint Mary's pitchers combined to throw a shutout on Tuesday as the Gaels blanked the UC Davis Aggies 2-0.

Freshman mechanical engineering major Nate Freeman (0-2) started and took the loss on the mound for UC Davis (9-7). The right-hander went four innings, giving up one run on one hit, allowing one walk and striking out two. Junior human development major Nick Johnson was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 1.1 shutout innings without allowing a hit, walking none and striking out one.

Junior mechanical engineering major Spencer Gedestad led the way offensively for the Aggies, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a walk.

UC Davis managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. The Aggies last got a runner on third in the fifth, when junior communication major J.D. Mico made it 90 feet away from scoring with one out.
