TEE TIME: For the second straight season, the UC Davis women's golf team will host a tournament in Northern California, welcoming individuals from 12 other schools to compete at the second annual Gunrock Invitational on Monday (March 2) and Tuesday (March 3) at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, Calif. Teams will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. on both days.

THE COURSE: The Gunrock Invitational will be played at the Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, Calif., and will play at par 72 and 5,950 yards for this week's event. Sacramento's oldest and most storied course has served as host for the 1957 U.S. Women's Amateur, the 1964 U.S. Senior Women's Amateur, the 1976 U.S. Women's Amateur, the 1982 U.S. Women's Open, and the 2015 U.S. Senior Open.

THE FIELD: Eleven other teams and a group of individuals from Stanford will join the host Aggies at this week's event, including the University of British Columbia, Pac-12 power California, Big West Conference rivals Cal Poly, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside, Wisconsin out of the Big Ten, New Mexico and Nevada from the Mountain West, and Big Sky Conference rivals Northern Colorado and Sacramento State.

IN THE RANKINGS: Host UC Davis enters the tournament ranked No. 72 in the nation according to the most recent GolfWeek Sagarin rankings released on Feb. 26. Defending champion Sacramento State is the highest-ranked team in the field at No. 55, followed by Wisconsin (No. 68), California (No. 74), Nevada (No. 91), New Mexico (No. 94), and Cal Poly (No. 96) in the top 100.

GOING BACK TO THE GUNROCK: The 2020 Gunrock Invitational is in its second year with cross-Causeway rival Sacramento State standing as the defending champion after shooting a 5-under 859 at last year's event to out-pace runner-up California by 16 shots. The Hornets' Corinne Viden took home individual medalist honors last season, finishing with an 8-under 208 (69-69-70) to win the event by five strokes over the Golden Bears' Cindy Oh (-3, 213). The tournament record for low single team round is 281 by Sacramento State (1st round), while the low individual round is a 68 by UC Davis' Rei Nakatani (2nd Round).

A LOOK BACK - WESTBROOK SPRING INVITATIONAL: Freshman Jackie Lucena finished in a tie for 32nd to lead the Aggies into the clubhouse — one of three UC Davis players in the top 40 — helping her team to a 14th place finish at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. Lucena carded a career-best 67 in the second round en route to her career-best 54-hole score, while senior Christine Danielsson finished with a final-round season-low 69 to finish at 1-over (also a season-low 217) and a tie for 37th. Senior Rei Nakatani also finished in the 60s, tying a career low with a 68 in the second round to match Danielsson at 1-over for the tournament.
