Season-high nine runs paces win at Pacific

Stockton, Calif. - Five UC Davis players notched multiple hits to help lead the Aggies past the Pacific (CA) Tigers 9-3 Tuesday.

Freshman managerial economics major Zach Carrell (1-0) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for UC Davis (6-3). The left-hander went two shutout innings without giving up a hit, allowing no walks and striking out two. Freshman mechanical engineering major Nate Freeman also made an impact on the mound for the Aggies, starting the ballgame and throwing three scoreless innings while allowing one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Junior design major Tanner Murray led the hit barrage for the Aggies, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a double and two walks. Junior communication major J.D. Mico put together a noteworthy performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, two walks and an RBI.

The Aggies got the scoring started early, first putting runs on the board in the first inning with the game still scoreless.

The Aggies then held the Tigers scoreless before expanding their lead in the third inning. Freshman wildlife, fish, and conservation biology major Jonah Henrickson's run-scoring single highlighted an inning where UC Davis scored twice, which brought the score to 5-0 in favor of the Aggies.

UC Davis held Pacific without a run before building their lead to 6-0 the following inning. The Aggies scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior managerial economics major Logan Denholm.

UC Davis held the Tigers scoreless before their offense got in gear the next inning. The Aggies recorded two runs off of Pacific pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double off the bat of Mico, bringing the UC Davis advantage to 8-0.

Pacific got within 8-1 until the Aggies scored again in the ninth inning to stretch its lead to 9-1. Senior cinema and digital media major Alec Smith came across to score the lone run of the inning for UC Davis and get them on the board. Pacific put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Aggies still coasted to the 9-3 win.
