SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Leading 47-46 in Thursday's Big West Conference game at the Mott Athletics Center, a layup from Ezra Manjon and a pair of threes from Joe Mooney — one from behind the arc and another on a three-point play — gave UC Davis the lead for good midway through the second half.

However, it was the way UC Davis earned its fourth-consecutive victory that will capture the league's attention entering the final weeks of the season.

Thanks to their game-ending 20-8 run, which spanned the final 5:49 of the game, the Aggies pulled away from the Mustangs and built its lead to a game-high 18 points. Not only was CP unable to score for nearly four minutes within that near-six-minute block of action, UC Davis recorded 12 unanswered, which ultimately led to its seventh-straight victory versus the Mustangs and 13th in the last 15 head-to-head meetings.

As was the case in their previous three games, the Aggies shot 50 percent or higher from the floor by posting a .548 overall figure. Thursday night's victory improve their records to 13-15 overall, 7-5 against Big West teams, and snapped CP's four-game home win streak.

The Mustangs will continue their current homestand with respective records of 7-19 and 4-8.

Led by Rogers Printup's game-high five rebounds, the Aggies also won the battle of the boards, by a 30-23 margin, by finishing with one more on offensive (5-4) and six more on the defensive end of the court (25-19).

By hitting 7 of 9 shots, Stefan Gonzalez led all players with 18 points; Caleb Fuller hit two of his six baskets from three and finished with 15 points; Elijah Pepper connected on 8 of 10 shots at the free throw line, which led to 14 points; Manjon was the final Aggie to finish in double figures by adding in another 12.

Twelve lead changes and five tied scores took place throughout the first half, with the change taking place just before halftime when Gonzalez was fouled underneath the basket. He hit the ensuing free throw to complete another Aggie three-point play, which allowed his team to enter the locker room at the break up by a 34-32 score.

The lead changed hands another three times after halftime until Manjon's layup, and six-point outburst from Mooney gave UC Davis the lead for good.

UC Davis entered San Luis Obispo as the league's No. 1 free throw shooting team, and it took full advantage of its opportunities throughout the second half by knocking down 16 of 20 shots (.800). That, combined with the way it shot from the field throughout the final 20 minutes — UC Davis made 12 of 20 attempts overall (.600) — is why the Aggies will enter Saturday's 7 p.m. game at UC Santa Barbara as the league's hottest team with the best road record during conference play.
