DAVIS, Calif. -- Sophomore environmental science and management major Sage Stobbart collected her second-straight double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead UC Davis past Cal Poly 71-58 at home in Big West Conference action on Wednesday.

UC Davis' overall record moved to 13-10 and conference record improved to 8-2 after the victory, clinching its 27th consecutive home league win.

In addition to Stobbart's double-double, the Aggies were led by senior communication major Katie Toole, who recorded 13 points, five assists, two steals and two blocks, and by junior cell biology major Cierra Hall, who chipped in with 14 points and six rebounds.

UC Davis out-rebounded Cal Poly 36-29 in Wednesday's game, paced by Stobbart's 10 boards -- her fifth double-digit rebounding performance in her last eight games.

UC Davis did a great job disrupting Cal Poly shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Toole's two rejections -- along with a pair from Stobbart -- led the way individually for the Aggies.

After jumping out to a 6-2 advantage, UC Davis went on a 7-0 run with 7:52 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from Toole, to increase its lead to 13-2. The Aggies then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 20-15 advantage. UC Davis relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down four shots to account for 12 of its 20 points.

UC Davis kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 5-0 run starting at the 8:10 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Stobbart, to increase its lead to 27-20. The Mustangs cut into that lead, but the Aggies still enjoyed a 36-33 advantage heading into halftime. UC Davis dominated in the paint, scoring eight of its 16 points close to the basket.

Following intermission, UC Davis continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 46-41 before going on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Stobbart, to expand its lead further to 51-41 with 1:24 to go in the third. Before the third period was over, the Aggies added two points to that lead and entered the fourth quarter with a 55-43 edge. UC Davis took advantage of four Cal Poly turnovers in the quarter, scoring nine points off of takeaways.

UC Davis kept its lead intact before going on a 5-0 run to grow the lead to 65-50 with 5:15 to go in the contest. The Mustangs narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Aggies still cruised the rest of the way for the 71-58 win. UC Davis fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 16 points.

The Aggies continue their homestand on Saturday (Feb. 15) at 2:30 p.m., meeting UC Irvine for the second time in a week at the Pavilion. The game is the first of a doubleheader with the men's team, which hosts CSUN.
