DAVIS, Calif. -- Senior Katie Toole finished with a team-high 21 points, while sophomore Makaila Sanders came off the bench to add 15 more, helping lift host UC Davis to its first Big West Conference victory of the season with a 62-49 triumph over Hawai'i on Saturday afternoon at The Pavilion.

UC Davis improved to 6-9 overall and 1-1 in action following the win, extending its streak to 23 consecutive wins at home in Big West play dating back to 2017.

Toole tallied her fourth 20-point performance of the year -- and her most since scoring 25 against San Francisco on Nov. 22 -- adding five assists. Sanders finished in double figures for the third consecutive game, hitting 5-of-8 from the floor -- all coming from beyond the arc -- while junior Cierra Hall finished with a game-high 11 rebounds (four on the offensive end) for her third double-digit performance of the season. Sophomore anthropology major Kayla Konrad also added seven points, nine rebounds and five assists.

UC Davis utilized fantastic ball movement in Saturday's game, piling up 19 assists on 21 made field goals, while turning the ball over only eight times.

The UC Davis defense held Hawaii shooters to just 28.6% from the field, including 24.1% from three-point range. The Rainbow Wahine didn't get many second opportunities on the offensive end, as they grabbed only four offensive rebounds and scored two second chance points while UC Davis pulled down 37 defensive rebounds.

UC Davis struggled out of the gate, falling behind 13-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Hawaii kept adding to that lead, building a 15-7 advantage before UC Davis went on a 17-0 run, highlighted by a three from junior psychology major Mackenzie Trpcic, to take a 24-15 lead. The Aggies proceeded to tack on one point to that lead and enjoyed a 27-17 advantage heading into halftime. UC Davis was strong from deep in the period, knocking down three three-point shots to account for nine of its 20 points.

Following intermission, UC Davis continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 40-25 before going on a 9-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Toole, to expand its lead further to 49-25 with 39 seconds to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Rainbow Wahine had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Aggies still entered the fourth quarter with a 49-28 edge. UC Davis knocked down five three-pointers in the quarter to score 15 of its 22 total points.

UC Davis kept its lead intact before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 59-47 with 34 seconds to go in the contest. The Aggies kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 62-49 win. UC Davis fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down two shots to account for six of its 13 points.

The Aggies are back in action on Thursday (Jan. 16) at 6 p.m., when they'll take on Long Beach State at The Pavilion.
