DAVIS, Calif. – Senior psychology major
Vincent White is the third UC Davis student-athlete, from last season's Big Sky championship team, to continue his athletics career at the NFL level after receiving an invitation for the Denver Broncos' rookie minicamp.
National Football League teams are allowed to conduct post-draft rookie minicamps on one of two weekends — May 3-6 or May 10-13 — for its draftees, undrafted free agents and rookie invites.
Competing in a league filled with elite offensive players, White shined on a consistent basis throughout his four-year career at UC Davis and quickly became one of the Big Sky's top defensive backs.
The Lynwood, Calif. native ended his senior season ranked No. 7 among all FCS players with his 1.4 pass breakups per game average, and will graduate from the fifth-ranked public school in the nation as the Aggies' record holder with 47 career breakups, four interceptions and 130 interception return yards.
Throughout UC Davis' 2018 championship season, White defended a league-high 21 passes and ended the year as the only league player with 20 or more PBUs.
Thanks to White's ability to neutralize opposing teams' top receivers on a consistent basis, often in one-on-one coverage, UC Davis enjoyed its most successful season as a Division I team (and arguably the program's 100-season history) in 2018.
With White anchoring their secondary, the Aggies set new Division I-era program records for the most overall and Big Sky victories in a season, recorded the program's first undefeated home record in its Division I era, and earned the team's inaugural FCS playoff appearance by ending the season as Big Sky champions.
Following its First Round bye as the sixth-ranked team in the 2018 Division I Football Championship, UC Davis competed in its inaugural FCS playoff game, and collected its first FCS playoff victory by defeating Northern Iowa, 23-16.
By purchasing season tickets for the 2019 campaign, UC Davis football fans will directly support the program, help it continue its #AGScension and create a home environment like no other — a key element of last year's success since five of the team's victories took place inside Aggie Stadium.
