Mustangs rally to 6-5 finale win over UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. -- Senior Chris Brown put together a great performance on the mound against Cal Poly, but it wasn't enough for UC Davis to pick up the win on Sunday, as they fell by the score of 6-5.

Junior Steve Ouellette took his third loss for UC Davis, which dropped his record to 0-3. Sophomore Taylor Dollard grabbed the win for Cal Poly, improving to 2-0 on the season. The Aggies defeat puts their 2019 record at 10-18 overall and 3-6 in the Big West. With the victory, Cal Poly improves to 16-17 this year, 7-2 in conference play.

Brown made the start for UC Davis. The lefty went seven innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on six hits, with two walks and one strikeout. The Aggies then went to the bullpen, relieving Brown with junior Chase Lyford, who threw 0.1 innings, giving up two runs and three hits. Ouellette finished the game for UC Davis, going the final 1.2 innings while allowing one run on three hits.

UC Davis pitchers as a group gave up the six Cal Poly runs, four earned, on 12 hits, walking three and striking out one. Aggies pitchers also managed to induce three double play balls, helping to limit Cal Poly to six runs.
