DAVIS, Calif. – Of the four quarterfinal games taking place on Thursday at the Honda Center, it is no hyperbole to say that UC Davis is part of the most interesting, and exciting matchup of the day since its game will feature the league's last two NCAA Tournament teams.

Two years ago, it was the Aggies who defeated Cal State Fullerton, in double overtime of their Big West Tournament matchup, to eventually punch their first-ever ticket to the Big Dance. One year later, it was Cal State Fullerton that edged UC Davis as part of its championship run. With each team defeating the other on their home courts during league play, and entertaining battles taking place each time this season, UC Davis basketball fans need to clear their calendars to enjoy this exciting rematch.

Tipoff in Anaheim is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon with Trent Rush (PBP), Richie Schueler (Analyst) and Courtney Sweet (Sideline) calling the action for ESPN3's national broadcast. In addition to a video stream of this rubber game, available on WatchESPN.com and ESPN3.com, Money 105.5 FM and its TuneIn online channel will provide Scott Marsh's radio call.

Even though Thursday's game features the third (Cal State Fullerton) and sixth (UC Davis) seeds, those numbers mean little because eight different teams won tournament championships in the eight Big West Tournaments held at the Honda Center.

Being the top seed in this event guarantees nothing than an appearance in a postseason tournament — the regular season champion will earn an automatic berth in the National Invitation Tournament if it does not advance to the NCAA Tournament — since the No. 1 team only advanced to the Big Dance twice within the last eight years.

UC Davis basketball fans know this team is talented and experienced enough to make a legitimate run in Anaheim, starting with Thursday's matchup versus the Titans, which is why the team's seed is of little, if any concern. Last year, CSF won it all as a fourth seed; four years before that, Cal Poly went dancing as a No. 7 seed.

Let the (March) madness begin.
