Aggies fall at Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — After a big win over Cal Poly at home on Saturday, the Aggies were unable to overcome the quick turnaround, and fell to Santa Clara 7-0 at the Degheri Tennis center on Sunday.

The Broncos started strong in doubles play, winning the point with wins on courts one and three. Their No. 1 doubles team remains undefeated together with the win.

Moving to singles play, Santa Clara got a retirement on court one to extend the lead to 2-0, before reeling off one-sided matches at Nos. 6 and 3 to clinch the match. Jessica Walker was the highlight of the day, taking the first set off Katya Tabachnik at No. 4, but ultimately fell just short in the third set tiebreaker, 10-6.

The Aggies return home to Marya Welch Tennis Center this weekend, hosting Nevada on Saturday, and UC Santa Barbara on Sunday. Both matches are slated for 11 AM.
