DAVIS, Calif. -- Sophomore
Kelley Hebert captured the individual all-around with a 39.325 total and garnered at least a share of first place on three events, leading UC Davis to a winning 195.050 overall score in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's gymnastics dual meet at the Pavilion Friday night. Visiting San Jose State scored a 193.250 in the meet.
The Aggies have now scored 195 or better in three meets this season, and the second within a span of six days.
Hebert captured the vault title outright with her 9.825, then tied Spartan junior Taylor Chan for wins on both balance beam and floor exercise with scores of 9.825 and 9.900, respectively. Adding in Hebert's  9.775 on uneven bars, and the human development major from Dublin, California, enjoyed her best all-around score of the 2019 season and tied the No. 7 total in school history with that 39.325.
Chan finished second in the all-around with a 39.250 score, thanks also to a team-high 9.775 on vault.
UC Davis sophomores
Kyla Kessler and
Sarah Liddle shared the meet win on uneven bars with matching 9.850 performances, with another redshirt sophomore,
Alyssa Ito, in third place with a career-high 9.800.Â
Kessler, whose bars score also represents a personal record, scored 9.775 on vault in the opening rotation, and a 9.750 on beam in the third. She was on her way to an outstanding floor exercise but suffered an injury on the landing of her final tumbling pass. Kessler still managed a 9.650 on floor and a 39.025 sum in the all-around, good for third place behind Hebert and Chan.
SJSU also suffered from the injury bug, having to scratch two gymnasts from three events during the timed warmup period. Still, the Spartans' 193.250 stands as their highest road score since the season-opening NorCal Classic.
The Aggies scored a 48.850 on vault to kick off the meet, with sophomore
Cammi Johnson chipping in a 9.800 as part of the 1-2-3 sweep in the event. UC Davis followed with a 48.400 on bars despite counting one fall, claiming a 97.250-96.525 lead at the midpoint of the meet.
With senior
Yasmine Yektaparast adding a 9.775 to the beam effort, the Aggies totaled 48.825 in the third rotation, needing exactly that score to break the 195-point barrier. The floor squad responded with a 48.925, with Hebert, Yektaparast (9.825) and sophomore
Gabby Landess (9.800) leading the way.
UC Davis returns to action in exactly one week, heading to nearby Sacramento State for a triangular meet with No. 15 California.Â
