Aggies pick up first 2019 conference win over CSUN

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — For the first time since the 2010-11 season, UC Davis defeated CSUN on the road, 4-3, to pick up its first Big West Conference win of the 2019 season. The Aggies finished the Southern California road trip with a 2-5 overall record, and a 1-2 Big West record.

This is the fifth match this season that has ended in a 4-3 score, and just the second that fell in favor of the Aggies, thanks to Kristina Breisacher and Isabella von Ebbe's efforts on court No. 3. The duo turned it around from the UC Irvine loss, winning 7-5 to clinch the doubles point, as Kelsie Bryant and Sara Tsukamoto notched the first win at No. 1 doubles.

Moving into singles play, the Aggies were locked in battle with the Matadors before Nikita Pradeep recorded her sixth career 6-0, 6-0 win, and her first in the No. 1 position, to give UC Davis the 2-0 advantage. CSUN responded by taking the matches on courts 4-6, going up 3-2 for their only lead of the day.

Shirley Hall defeated CSUN's Skyla Alcon 6-2, 6-2 to even the match with her team-high tenth victory this year, and Tsukamoto clinched the match for the Aggies with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court No. 2.

Big West Conference play continues Saturday when Cal Poly visits the Marya Welch Tennis Center at 11 AM, before UC Davis travels to Santa Clara for a rescheduled noon match on Sunday.
