Aggies fall in season opener at Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. — UC Davis women's tennis drops their first match of the season against Pac-12 foe Arizona State 4-0 on Saturday.

Boasting a roster with All-Americans and nationally-ranked players, the Sun Devils got off to a quick start in doubles, taking the matches at No.1 and No. 2. Senior Isabella von Ebbe and sophomore Jessica Walker were at 3-3 when the doubles point was clinched.

Arizona State continued its momentum, and earned straight-set wins in the first three matches to finish, resulting in a 4-0 loss for the Aggies.

At the clinch, freshman Skyler Holm was making a comeback in the second set, with break points at 4-3, while junior Nikita Pradeep and sophomore Sara Tsukamoto were battling the returning top two players from last season's impressive team that finished 16-7 overall record.

UC Davis will conclude its road trip with an 11 AM MST neutral-site match against Northern Arizona at the Whiteman Tennis Center on Arizona State's campus.
