SAN FRANCISCO - Junior sociology major Samantha Hutchison and sophomore managerial economics major Christine Danielsson each competed in the first postseason round of their careers on Monday at TPC Harding Park, site of the San Francisco Regional. As members of the toughest field of the four regionals taking place across the country, Hutchison finished with a 4-over 76 and Danielsson posted an 11-over 83 on the 6,369-yard course.

Second round play will begin Tuesday morning at 8:50 a.m. and 8:55 a.m. on holes 1 and 10 for Hutchison and Danielsson respectively.

Joining Hutchison are San José State's Abegail Arevalo and New Mexico's Ingrid Gutierrez; Danielsson will compete alongside Washington State's Alivia Brown and Darian Zachek (also from New Mexico) throughout the day.

This six-member group comprises the regional's at-large competitors.

Hutchison ended her afternoon with pars in four of her final five holes, with the odd score out taking place on her penultimate hole of the day. A birdie on 17 - one of only nine players who shot under par on this hole - helped her finish tied for 61st among all golfers competing in this regional.

Danielsson also ended her first trip through TPC Harding Park with momentum after recording a 4 on the par-5 9th hole. She started her day on the 10th hole, where she recorded one six pars that took place throughout her front nine. The second-year Aggie will open Tuesday's round tied for 95th after recording a birdie on her final hole of the afternoon.

Top-ranked UCLA leads all teams at 8-under, and is one of six teams that finished the first round under par. Six teams, and the low three individuals not on those teams, will advance to the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, taking place later this month in Stillwater, Okla.
