DAVIS, Calif. - The first meeting of the season between UC Davis and Cal Poly continued a pattern that took place throughout the last two seasons: the home team earned a victory. The Aggies will look to end this trend when they visit Mott Athletics Center Thursday night in the first of their two road games taking place this week on the Central Coast.

With a win, UC Davis will sweep the season series for the third time in the last five seasons and earn its eighth `W' over the Mustangs in the last 10 games.

When the Aggies last faced Cal Poly on Jan. 27, inside the Pavilion, they enjoyed a 20-3 run in the first half, shot .621 overall and held a 24-point lead entering the locker room at halftime, and eventually defeated the Mustangs by an 80-56 score.

Ball protection will play a key role in determining who wins this game; the Aggies are ranked No. 24 in the nation with its 15.88 turnovers forced per game average while Cal Poly is No. 49 in turnovers, committing 11.6 per game.

Limiting the Mustangs' trips to the stripe is another key to victory for UC Davis since Cal Poly's free throw shooting strongly influenced the team's success this year. In all eight CP victories, it posted a higher free throw percentage. Conversely, it is 0-8 when opponents posted a higher shooting clip.

With three weeks left in the regular season, every Big West team is battling for the best possible seed at this year's league tournament, taking place from March 8-10 at the Honda Center. UC Davis is tied for third with Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton, Cal Poly trails sixth-place Hawai'i by a game-and-a-half.

Of Cal Poly's eight victories, six took place inside Mott Athletics Center, including its last two played (vs. UC Riverside and Hawai'i).

Series Record: UC Davis trails 35-22
Last UC Davis Win: 1/27/18 - H, 80-56
Last Cal Poly Win: 2/2/17 - A, 74-70
Series Streak: UC Davis +2
