DAVIS, Calif. – For the first time since 2002, UC Davis will compete in the NCAA postseason after winning its first-ever Big Sky Conference championship. As the No. 6 seed in this year's playoffs, the Aggies earned a First Round bye as a reward for becoming one of the top eight seeds.

Off since its title-clinching blowout victory on Nov. 17 vs. Sacramento State, UC Davis will return home for the first time since Nov. 3 — its home Causeway Classic rivalry game was relocated to Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nevada, 28 hours before kickoff due to poor air quality in Northern California due to the Camp Fire — your Big Sky champions will compete in their first-ever FCS playoff game when Northern Iowa visits Aggie Stadium on Saturday.

Football fans planning on attending this game are encouraged to visit Postseason Central  to access all the information they need to know before arriving to Aggie Stadium.

Kickoff for the program's latest historic event, taking place during its 100th season of football, is scheduled for 4 p.m.

UC Davis, a team that finished the regular season at 9-2 overall and 7-1 in league play (both new Division I programs records), is undefeated at home this year and would love nothing more than to preserve this unblemished mark against a UNI team that earned a trip to Davis after defeating Lamar, 16-13 at home last weekend, in its First Round matchup.

The Aggies are the Panthers' second opponent, in as many weeks, competing in its inaugural FCS postseason game; in addition to UC Davis and Lamar, Incarnate Word is the last of three teams making their playoff debut this season.

UC Davis, a team possessing one of the top offenses in the nation, and a defensive unit ranked among the best in the nation, will face their biggest challenge of the season in Saturday's Second Round home game. Of the 24 teams comprising this year's playoff field, no team has more tournament appearances than UNI (20).

The winner of this matchup will face the winner of Nicholls State at Eastern Washington in a quarterfinal contest taking place on Dec. 7 or 8.

QUICK HITS
The 2018 season is the 100th in UC Davis football's history
With its 56-13 blowout victory vs. Sacramento State in this year's Causeway Classic, a rivalry game moved to Mackay Stadium in Reno, Nevada due to poor air quality caused by the Camp Fire, UC Davis earned its first Big Sky Championship
This is UC Davis' first league title since 2009 when it was a member of the Great West Conference, and 31st overall in program history
By finishing the season 9-2 overall and 7-1 in league play, the Aggies earned their first FCS postseason berth, and a No. 6 ranking in this year's playoffs, which gave the team a First Round bye.
Saturday's game is UC Davis' first FCS playoff berth and 20th NCAA postseason appearance in program history.
Northern Iowa earned a trip to Davis after defeating Lamar, 16-13, in last week's First Round game in Cedar Falls, Iowa
The Aggies are UNI's second opponent, in as many weeks, making its FCS playoff debut
In addition to Lamar and UC Davis, the other postseason newcomer is Incarnate Word
