DAVIS, Calif. – For the first time since its incredible come-from-behind overtime victory vs. Idaho State on Homecoming Weekend (Oct. 13), UC Davis will compete on its own turf when Northern Arizona visits Aggie Stadium for Saturday's 1 p.m. clash.

Even though five of the Aggies' eight games played this season were on the road, they are about to enjoy a luxury, at the best possible time of the season, that the three teams tied for second place will not enjoy. As the only Big Sky team with an undefeated league record, alone atop the conference standings in first place, UC Davis will play two of its final three games at home.

For Eastern Washington, Idaho State and Weber State, teams that hold identical 4-1 league records this season, two of their final three games are on the road.

Including their blowout victories at Cal Poly and Montana in recent weeks, the Aggies have won their last five in a row, a new D-I program record, and look to extend this streak against a Northern Arizona squad that possesses one of the best defenses in the league.

Known for creating turnovers — the Lumberjacks lead the league with 14 interceptions, and are ranked No. 2 in turnovers forced (22) — the Aggies' offense will face a stiff challenge against the Big Sky's No. 1-rated pass defense. Entering Saturday's contest, NAU's opponents average 178.2 pass yards per game.

However, the Lumberjacks are facing an offense like no other — one that leads the league in scoring at 43.3 points per game, the fourth-highest clip in the nation, and ranked No. 4 in the FCS with its 334.3 passing yards per game average.

The Aggies also field a defense that is just as stingy, if not more, as showcased in their last two games against the Mustangs and Grizzlies. In those league matchups, it was UC Davis' defense that held Cal Poly scoreless throughout the last three quarters, and prevented Montana from scoring throughout the entire second half.

Even more impressive is that both feats took place on their opponent's home field.

Northern Arizona does lead the all-time series, 4-1, but that one victory took place on Davis soil when the Lumberjacks last visited in 2015.

QUICK HITS
With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the FCS Committee slotted UC Davis No. 3 in its top 10 rankings
This is the only announcement the group will make prior to Nov. 18, also known as Selection Sunday, when this year's postseason bracket is revealed on ESPNU, starting at 9:30 a.m. PT
The 2018 championship field consists of 24 teams: 10 automatic qualifiers, a group that includes the Big Sky Conference's regular season champion, and 14 at-large qualifiers
This is what makes the Committee's Halloween announcement an important one: The top eight seeds from this year's playoff field will automatically earn a bye during the first week of postseason competition while the other teams compete in one of eight First Round games taking place on Nov. 24
Last week's program-high national ranking carried over for another week since the top nine teams all won their games last weekend
UC Davis sits alone in first place atop the Big Sky standings with its highest ranking in program history; this is the first week in the program's Div. I era that the Aggies hold two top-10 rankings
This is the Ags' eighth straight week in STATS' poll; the Aggies are No. 9 in the AFCA poll
Football is ranked No. 6 in the nation with its 1.50 turnover margin
The Aggies' #BlueForce is responsible for 13 interceptions, the fourth-highest total in the country
UC Davis' offense is No. 4 in the nation by averaging 334.3 passing yards per game
The Aggies' offensive unit will face a stern test when it faces a NAU pass defense that allows a league-low 178.2 yards per game
The Big Sky's two best defenses, with regards to creating turnovers, will face one another this weekend: NAU and UC Davis are ranked No. 1 and 2 with 14 and 13 interceptions, respectively.
UC Davis' +12 turnover margin is the best among all Big Sky teams
NAU and UC Davis are ranked No. 2 and 3 in forced turnovers with 22 and 19, respectively

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game is the sixth all-time meeting between UC Davis and NAU, and the third to take place inside Aggie Stadium
UC Davis won one of the five previously played head-to-head games
That lone win, however, took place when the Lumberjacks last visited Davis (2015)
Northern Arizona is 3-0 this season when allowing 30 or fewer points to their opponents, and 0-5 when they give up 31 or more
UC Davis averages league-high 43.3 points per game this season, the fourth-highest figure among all FCS teams
