Joe Mooney scored double figures for the third straight game by finishing with 10 in Sunday's road game at UT Arlington.
It was the host Mavericks' free throws that ended up being the difference in the last of consecutive games, in as many days, played inside College Park Center for UC Davis since UT Arlington scored 11 more points at the stripe compared to the Aggies, in a game that UTA won by a 68-59 score.
UC Davis will enter Tuesday's 7:05 p.m. Causeway clash at the Golden 1 Center with a 1-3 record; the Mavericks will continue their season at 2-1 after capping a season-opening three-game homestand against the Aggies.
After watching the Mavs end the half with a 10-2 run, UC Davis responded by scoring eight straight to pull within two.

Stefan Gonzalez drained a shot of his own from distance, to help UC Davis chop its lead by more than half within a minute of game time.
Even though UT Arlington tried to squelch the Aggies' run by calling timeout, that did little to influence the game since it missed its next two shots and committed a turnover in its ensuing possessions.
Once Gonzalez connected on back-to-back free throws, the Aggies turned a double-digit deficit into a one-possession game.
A combined 51 fouls took place throughout Sunday's non-conference game; even though UTA did not record a field goal throughout the final 3:34, the team's final eight points were scored at the free throw line, in as many attempts, to thwart the Aggies' comeback efforts.
UC Davis won the first two rivalry games at the Golden 1 Center against Sacramento State, and will seek its third in a row when these regional rivals square off against one another in this annual matchup.
