STOCKTON, Calif. — Junior goalkeeper Chelsea Bigelow posted eight total saves on the afternoon, but after notching two goals within the first four minutes the Tigers never looked back, securing a 4-0 win over UC Davis during Sunday afternoon's America East Conference matchup at Pacific Field Hockey Turf.Â
The Aggies fell to 6-11 on the season with an 0-5 league mark. The Tigers improved to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in America East play.Â
The first half would see an explosive start by the Pacific offense, scoring its first goal of the afternoon at the 2:13 mark. Thirteen minutes later the Tigers' leading scorer senior forward Kriekie van Wyk would boost Pacific to a 4-0 advantage, completing the hat trick in the 14th minute with a successfully converted penalty stroke.Â
The UC Davis offense battled back in the second half drawing a corner in the 38th minute with junior Tatiana Arias and sophomore Shea Gavin each forcing a save by Pacific goalkeeper Marlise van Tonder.Â
Bigelow's eight-save performance gives the San Diego native 257 saves on her career—just 12 back of program record holder Lauren Sawvelle (269).Â
UC Davis is slated to close out the regular season at the Aggie Field Hockey Facility on Wednesday (Oct. 24) hosting Stanford at 3 p.m.
