Aggies fall to No. 20 Harvard

Sept. 1, 2017

Final Stats

DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis put up a defensive battle against the No. 20 Crimson, with sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea Bigelow tallying eight saves on the day, and senior midfielder Kate Young notching her second defensive save of the season. But three Crimson goals would prove too much to overcome for the Aggies, resulting in a 3-0 win for Harvard over UC Davis.

Harvard will enter their game tomorrow against No. 25 Pacific with a 1-0 mark. The Aggies will look to face the No. 17 Iowa Hawkeyes on Monday with an 0-3 record.

Harvard took an early lead during Friday's match, scoring their first goal at 1:38 in the first period. Their second goal came 12 minutes later, lifting the Crimson to a quick 2-0 lead. The Crimson offense remained silent for the next 43 minutes until scoring their third and final goal in the 55th minute of play.

Although the UC Davis offense was unable to find a spark, the UC Davis defense had some notable highlights. Kate Young notched her second defensive save of the season, raising the team total to four defensive saves. Goalkeeper Chelsea Bigelow followed up her 15-save performance against Syracuse with eight saves on the day, extending her 2017 campaign total to 25 saves.

UC Davis will play their fourth game of the 2017 season at the Aggie Field Hockey Facility on Monday Sept. 4 at 12 pm. This will be the last home game for UC Davis until Sept. 29 when they host America East rival, California.
