June 26, 2017 DAVIS, Calif. - In partnership with the Associated Students, University of California, Davis, the UC Davis Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has modified its staffing structure to establish five full-time staff positions, referred to as ICA & ASUCD Fellowships, each of which is a one-year appointment available to a recent UC Davis graduate who aspires to work within intercollegiate athletics.
"We are pleased to partner with ASUCD in launching this new program," said Director of Athletics
Kevin Blue. "A key aspect of the university's mission is to provide opportunities for personal and professional development, and intercollegiate athletics plays a substantial role in furthering that mission." While the fellowships are new positions, Blue notes, they are not the result of increased expenditures but rather the restructuring of the ICA workforce that will allow the department to accommodate productive opportunities for students. "These fellowships will allow members of UC Davis' newest graduating class to gain valuable skills and experience to aid them in their career endeavors in sports business. Meanwhile, these young alumni will enrich the athletics department as we further build our culture of togetherness. It is truly a `win-win' situation for ICA and ASUCD, and I look forward to welcoming new members to our team." ASUCD President Josh Dalavai echoed Blue's sentiments. "ASUCD is very excited to enter this partnership with athletics in their efforts to provide career experience for UC Davis students," he said. Of the five new positions, one entitled the Aggie Stadium & Events Fellowship posted earlier in June. Two fellowships in athletics communications, one in athletics development (fundraising) plus another in marketing will open in the coming weeks. Interested candidates may apply at the UC Davis Employment website (
www.employment.ucdavis.edu). Information on each position will also be available at the official ICA website (www.ucdavisaggies.com).
