DAVIS, Calif. - Fact: No 16-seeded team has ever defeated a No. 1 seed at the NCAA Tournament. Another fact: There is a first time for everything.

With wins in seven of its last eight games, and playing its best basketball of the season throughout the first two weeks of March, UC Davis will face Kansas, the Midwest Regional's top seed, in Friday's 3:50 p.m. (PT)/5:50 p.m. (CT) First Round matchup.

The Aggies' turnaround is a quick one; after winning its first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament game (in its first trip to the Big Dance), the Big West Conference Tournament champions will face a Jayhawk squad ranked No. 3 in the AP and Coaches Polls less than 48 hours after recording a thrilling result at the First Four on Wednesday.

That victory marked the eighth time in 11 games played this season that the Aggies came up clutch in crunch time, and won a game by five points or less.

Kevin Harlan, Dan Bonner, Reggie Miller and Dana Jacobson will call Friday's Midwest matchup on TNT and the NCAA's video stream, which is available on its March Madness Live website and app.

Fans can access Craig Way and P.J. Carlesimo's radio broadcast at WestwoodOneSports.com, Sirius channel 136, XM channel 202, and the TuneIn Mobile app on the NCAA March Madness on Westwood One Sports channel D.

UC Davis basketball fans looking for a local perspective can tune to KSAC 105.5 FM or access the channel's online stream to hear Scott Marsh's courtside commentary live from the BOK Center.

Jim Les and Bill Self, the head coach of the Aggies and Jayhawks respectively, will square off against one another 11 years to the day after Les' Bradley Braves (a No. 13 seed) topped KU (a No. 4 seed), ultimately advancing to the 2006 Oakland Regional.
