Jan. 9, 2017 DAVIS, Calif. - By earning his sixth double-double of the season - one shy of matching a program record - and posting double-figure scoring totals in each game played, USA Today Sports Media's College Sports Madness named junior forward Chima Moneke its Big West Conference Player of the Week.
Moneke is the second Aggie to earn this accolade as the outlet selected senior guard Brynton Lemar last week.
In his first-ever conference game, Moneke scored 15 points, on 6 of 9 shooting, and led all players with 10 rebounds to become the first player in the program's Division I history to post three consecutive double-doubles. The Canberra, Australia, native leads the league with six double-doubles, one shy of matching an Aggie D-I record.
Against Cal Poly, Moneke led all players with 18 points on a game-high eight field goals to help UC Davis collect its fifth home win in a row vs. the Mustangs, and extend its current overall win streak to four games.
By sweeping another week's worth of action, the Aggies will enter their first Big West road games atop the Big West standings.
UC Davis, the only league team with a winning record, will compete in two nationally broadcasted events this week starting with Thursday's ESPN3 game at UC Riverside. Tipoff for the Aggies' first BWC road game of the year will begin at 8 p.m.
On Saturday night, ESPNU will televise UC Davis' 7:30 p.m. league matchup at CSUN.
