DAVIS, Calif. - After dominating its Big West opener vs. UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, a matchup that ended with a 73-47 victory, UC Davis' season-long three-game homestand will conclude Saturday afternoon when Cal Poly visits Hamilton Court.
With the first of four home basketball doubleheaders scheduled this weekend, the Aggies and Mustangs will tip at 5 p.m. or 35 minutes following the conclusion of the women's basketball game, whichever is later.
Since Cal Poly was idle on Wednesday, the Mustangs will compete in their inaugural league contest of the season, and cap a six-game road swing, against an Aggie squad that sits atop the Big West standings as the only conference team with a winning record.
When it steps onto Hamilton Court, UC Davis will look to extend its current three-game win streak (and collect its fifth victory in the last six games) against a
Cal Poly team that has dropped its last five in a row. The Aggies have also won five of the last six head-to-head meetings - the two split last year's season series with wins earned on their respective home courts Â- and the last four held inside the Pavilion.
As has been the case in each of the last five seasons, Cal Poly will enter its first league game leading all BWC teams in fewest turnovers per game. Its 10.9 per game average ranks it No. 15 nationally; the Mustangs committed a season-low four turnovers in its Dec. 31 non-conference finale at Princeton - their fifth single-digit turnover total of the season.
Series Record: Cal Poly leads 34-19
Last UC Davis Win: 69-64; 1/27/16 at UC Davis
Last Cal Poly Win: 61-57; 2/4/16 at Cal Poly
Series Streak: Cal Poly +1
